If you like me don’t dare to cut your child’s hair (I tried once and he ended up looking like a member of The Beatles with his bowl haircut), then you might be looking for some professional help. I’ve tried a few hairdressers and here is my lowdown. Anna’s hair salon (Fulham Palace Road – £14) – has a section at the back dedicated to kids with vintage chairs in the shape of a pony or truck, an aquarium, and a TV streaming kid’s programmes. My child kept calm while his hair was being cut and at the end he…
Baby weaning – apple puree
Today I decided to make apple puree for my 7 month old. If you want to make apple puree at home, here is how. Take one apple, peel it, core it and cut it into thin slices. Then put the slices in a saucepan and covered the pieces with water. After around 20 minutes check to see if the pieces are soft enough to mash with a fork. Once you’ve mashed the pieces, checked with your fingers to make sure there aren’t any lumpy pieces that your baby would struggle with. And that’s all there is to it!

Breastfeeding is not always as easy as everyone makes out so don’t be discouraged if you experience difficulties in the early days when you are trying to get breastfeeding established. Here are some tips to help you get started:- Take time to get breastfeeding established. Don’t overdo the visitors in the early days and make sure you are resting, eating healthily and drinking plenty of fluids to help milk production. Observe how your baby feeds and learn the difference between effective sucking (slow, deep and rhythmic) which means he will be getting…

Why using a breastfeeding cover is a good idea
There seem to be some women out there who oppose the idea of a breastfeeding mother using a nursing cover. They argue that you should not use a cover up when breastfeeding in public because ‘breastfeeding should be normalised’. The premise of this argument is that women cover up because of what others think or may say to them. In reality, I think very few people would actually express a negative sentiment towards a breastfeeding woman. In many cases it is the mother who prefers to use a cover up when breastfeeding while she’s in the company of other people. The argument that ‘breastfeeding should be normalised’…
