Using a nursing pillow

In the weeks following the birth of my son in 2015, I developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my hands.  The physical strains of carrying a baby, changing him, holding him, feeding him, pushing the pushchair all put pressure on my hands and shoulders.  Whilst feeding him in bed, I was lazy at times to put pillows behind me or underneath him.  I ended up having very sore shoulders.  The first signs of Carpal Tunnel were tingling in my hands when I woke up in the morning.  I also developed trigger thumb.  One morning I woke up to find my left thumb stuck in a bent position and when I tried to straighten it, it snapped back.  Not pleasant.

Eventually, a few months later I saw the GP and then the Hand Surgeon.  I was told that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome was very common in pregnancy and following birth.   My GP recommended using nursing pillows which I wasn’t familiar with at the time.  My experience led me to launch a breastfeeding pillow as part of My Little Koala range of products.  These pillows are not only helpful when breastfeeding your baby but also bottle feeding him.  They are high enough to bring the baby up towards you so you don’t have to bend down.

Here’s a picture of me using it.

It has a clasp that allows it to tie around you to hold it securely.  It’s useful to have one of these whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle feeding.
